Hello and welcome
I am Mark, a local St Helens based counsellor/therapist. I was born in St Helens and grew up in a small close knit mining community. I am still resident there to this day.
Mark E Haslam & Associates is an established counselling/psychotherapy and healing practice that offers you the potential customer a safe, confidential, holistic and effective means of addressing your psychological wellbeing (mind, body, spirit) with a qualified and experienced therapist, in relaxed and comfortable surroundings.

Free initial 30min consultation
I offer this session for us to discuss possible ways forward that can be tailored to your unique personality. We can explore your current situation and any goals you may have, which will help us in determining the best support for you. The aim is for us to decide together whether counselling/psychotherapy or healing would be most suitable for you, or if a referral to another service would be more appropriate. After this session ends, there is no obligation to continue. If we decide to work together after this meeting, then we can arrange further appointments as and when required.

My way of working is anchored in the person centred approach to helping, an approach originating and developing in the early 1940s, by Dr Carl R Rogers. This model of counselling/psychotherapy is widely taught in colleges and universities today. It is a model which has stood the test of time and has the potential to enable you to make lasting sustainable changes that are right for you.

Creative/expressive therapy
I am also trained and experienced in using person centred art therapy skills and therefore I can extend my way of working using the creative arts to facilitate clients processes using materials such as paint, pastels etc, clay and sandtray work.
I regularly use these materials with adults, children and young people and on myself to increase self awareness and work through problems/concerns.
There is no artistic ability required, it is more about the process you work through whilst using your chosen media, rather than producing an “artistic masterpiece.”
All that is required is an openness to work with the materials. There will be no pressure or expectations from me for you to work in any particular way. We can explore what may be beneficial for you. You work at your own pace.

Reiki & Spiritual Healing
In my adjoining therapy room I offer Reiki and Spiritual Healing (contact and non contact depending on your preference). I also offer distant healing for those that cannot attend in person.
The Reiki or the Spiritual Healing work on mind, body, spirit and emotions, re-balancing your energy system, and can be experienced as deeply relaxing, helping to combat the negative effects of stress and other conditions. Healing not only works on the symptoms of a condition, it reaches and treats the core of the underlying condition.

Hello and welcome
I am Mark, a local counsellor/therapist. I have been involved in the helping field for many years. My earlier work involved working with older people with dementia before being recruited as a Mentor for a private training company to help people overcome barriers to employment and other obstacles which were proving troublesome.
It was while in that space that I became quickly aware of the limitations of the mentor training in working effectively with some client groups, a lot of the presenting issues were psychological and therefore required a different approach.
From here I began counsellor training (2004) and secured a post with a local authority the same year providing counselling and other therapeutic interventions across a range of client groups, one-one adult and couple counselling, children and young people and groupwork, delivering workshops and training under the therapeutic umbrella, and providing in house supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors.
Also in 2004 I worked as a volunteer counsellor at a Rape & Sexual abuse service (5Years) and as a volunteer counsellor at an agency specializing in grief and loss (2years), and as a volunteer mediator (2years).
I am currently employed as a counsellor for a local authority, alongside developing my long established private counselling/psychotherapy and healing practice, based at Newton-Le-Willows, St Helens.

Mindfulness Meditation: Each Wednesday 6.00pm til 7.00pm we have space for 6 more people to join us. £5.00 each for the meditation hour includes light refreshments. All welcome
